I have posted both parts of the hot and cold cubes story.  The multiplication part even had some practice problems for your guys.

Vacation and Test on WED. !!

I enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with each of you during parent conferences!  I hope that the new report card gave you a better insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your child. Thank you very much for your support and all you do for your children.

I am planning on having a small test on integers the Wed. we get back!  Please spend some time reading the story's titled hot and cold cubes.  I have two attachments on my website.

Today, we started working with positive and negative numbers (integers).  Please do page 418 numbers 38 through 50.  Also, do the Link Up to Reading on the bottom of page 419.

Homework

Today we worked with the distributive property working with partial product.  Please look over your notes and practice one problem to see if you can do everything we did today.  For example, try 15X12 .     Can you  draw the array and break it apart into its partial products? Can you write it algebraically?  Can you see the 4 times table in the original problem 15x 12?

I have posted a master parent conference schedule on my website.  Please check to see what time your conference is.  If your child turned in the conference sheet today, look for an updated master schedule on Thursday or Friday.

Please do page 93  #16 and 17.  Use graph paper for these.  Make arrays, show how you broke them apart, and write the equations to show the distributive property.  Then do 22-25 on the same page.

Parent Conferences

Parent conferences are soon approaching.  This is a great time to talk about the progress your child has made this year.  They will be starting on Friday Nov. 14 and ending on Nov. 21.  I will be putting a parent conference attachment on my website Friday Nov. 7.  Please print it out and choose your first 3 choices and return with your student on Monday Nov. 10.  I will  try and give everyone their first choice.

Homework

Please spend 20-30 minutes working on the pattern of your alphabet letter.  Be ready to come in and share what you have discovered so far along with any questions you may have.

Students who were absent please download "building letters" as wells as "graph paper".  Please do it on the graph paper that you download.

Please finish your project that is due tomorrow.  I have posted a copy of the instructions on my webpage if you need to download it.

Also,  we worked on the growth pattern of the letter "U".  Please have your drawings, T-chart, and write down the patterns you see to figure out any age "U".

The more time you spend looking at patterns, the better you will get!

I hope a lot of you have started on the draft of your project that is due on Mon.  

Congratulations to the 19 students who found my mathematical error on my Oct. 27 blog.  I wrote the decimal .12 and showed it in expanded form as .1 + .01.  The original decimal should have been .11 = .1+ .01   or the expanded form for .12 should have been  .1 + .02
