Math:  Pages 293-296   2,  9,13, 14, 18, 19  complete these problems, redo some of your homework word problems, and read over some of the examples you have in your notes.

Division of  Whole Numbers:

The test will be 3 to 4 problems based on the problems we did in class. 

How to study: 
Go over the word problems and work through them again. 

Change the numbers in the problems and see if you can solve the new problems.

I will give you some practice problems from the book on Monday.

Math Test Wednesday Multiplication of decimals

Study Guide.....

Know what happens to the decimal point when you multiply a number by 10, 100, 10 to any power, 1/10

For example:  2.123  If this number was multiplied by 100 where would you place the decimal point.  What about multiplying it by 1/10?


Know how to multiply a whole number times a decimal and model it using 100 grid.

Example:  4 X .3 =. ?          Refer back to your notes.

Know how to multiply a decimal smaller than 1 times a decimal smaller than one.  Know how to creat a story for this and model it on a 100 grid.

Example:  .4 X .6 = ?    What story matches this equation?  How do you show it on a100 grid?  Refer back to your notes.

Multiplying numbers bigger than 1:

Example:  12.4 X 3.4 =

Know how to estimate product... Also, know how use an array model with whole numbers and also breaking your array into decimals.

Refer to your quiz and notes from last week.

Also, do pages 231 and 232 in your book.  Also, pages 235-236 could be used as additional practice.

whole numbers:

• know how to write them in word form, standard form, and expanded form.

• know how to find the place value in a number and also be able to tell the value of the digit. For example: 576,984 The six is in the thousands place. The value of the 6 is 6,000

• know how to fill a customer order by recording a decimal. For example: 12 longs, 3 flats, and 12 cubes. (In this example you would also need to know how to make trades)    Another example  12 cubes, 3 longs, 6 flats

• Know how to build a decimal with bases 10 blocks. For example:  how would you build 1.098

• Know how to put a decimal into word form, expanded form (both ways we did in class), standard form and as a fraction

• Know how to compare and order decimals (You also need to be able to explain how you know which is bigger and which is smaller)

•Know how to find a decimal between a decimal. For example, is there a decimal between .23 and .24.... Also be able to explain how you know.

*Know how to round decimals using a number line.
