I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.  I have enjoyed the opportunity to teach each and everyone of you.  Thank you for always trying your hardest every day you are at school!

For those of you who were out of town you will have to take the test when you return.  My scanner is broken.

Test Thursday

We will have a test this Thursday.  There will be 23 questions on the test.  The test will cover the following:

Know how to:

Measure and create angles with a protractor.

Know the difference between a regular polygon and a not regular polygon.

Know how to draw diagonals into any ploygon.

Know how to find the number of diagonals, regions, and degrees of any polygon.

For example can you figure out how many degrees would be in a 51-agon? Clue...how many diagonals? how many regions? What shape are the regions? What do you know about those shapes?

Know how to find the missing angle in a triangle.

Know all the terms on page 454 and 455 and how to label them correctly.

Know how to count the vertices, edges, and faces of any polyhedron.

For example,  How many edges in a  prism that has 49 sides on the bottom base?

Page 462  18-25...know how to do those problems.

Page 486 and 487 might also be a good reference.

Homework sheets that had to do with diagonals, sides, regions, and degrees.

Homework sheet that had to do with counting faces, edges, and vertices of pyramids and prisms.

homework and missing textbooks

Please do page 466 28-37 and 45-47.   Make sure to copy the problem down.  If it is a circle, please draw the circle on your paper.

I am missing math textbooks that are suppose to be for the classroom.  Check to see if you have two books.  Have a great day!

Homework

Students worked on measuring angles with a protractor and creating angles with a protractor.  I did not assign any homework today. However, if students do have a protractor at home it would not hurt to practice for 10 or 15 minutes.

Test Tomorrow/Homework for Friday

The graphing game: Please play two games with your parents.  I will try to post the game we played in class on my website if you need to look at how it was set up.  The game we played together in class is now up on my website for your reference.

Study for your integer test!  Solutions to yesterdays problem are......

-3 + +4=  +1    If I put three cold cubes into the cauldron and four hot cubes in (since it is addition)  three zero pairs will cross out and one hot cube is left.

+4 X  -5=  -20   If I put in four bunches of five cold cubes, the temperature will get colder by 20 degrees hence the temperature will be negative twenty.

Try these problems and refer to the story if needed.

-3  -  +2 =

+4 -  +1 =

-2 X   +3 =

Homework

Please study for your integer test this Wed.   Read the hot and cold cubes story on my blog.

Can you write a story and make a cauldron for   -3 + +4 =

Can you write a hot and cold cube story for  +4 X  -5 =

If you are having trouble... go back and read the story.

If the chefs dumped 3 hot cubes into the cauldron and removed 2 cold cubes what is the temperature? Write the equation that matches this story.  Make a cauldron to show what is happening.
