Test Tomorrow/Project due Wed.

You have your test tomorrow.  Make sure to practice problems.

Also, your pattern block algebra project is due on Wed.  (I have put this on my website if you need to get to quickly)

Make sure to get an early start on this.  If you wait to the last minute you will not get it done in time.  Start on it this weekend so things do not pile up!

homework

Tonight continue to study for your test on Friday!  Besides looking at the fudge factory homework, page 55 has some problems to practice that are helpful.  Try to sketch some of these problems with base 10 blocks and think about how you could solve  a problem with base 10 blocks.

Mr. Shobar made an error!!!!!

I made a mistake on my blog dated  October 27!  On one of my examples there is a mistake.  You can earn a bonus point if you find it.  Just write down what my mistake was and the correct answer on a piece of paper.  Hand that paper to me by Thurs. morning.  Do not tell anyone the mistake because that would be cheating.

Homework

Please spend 5 to 10 minutes working finishing up your classwork and preparing to share out tomorrow morning.   Also, please spend at least 20 minutes studying for your test.  You can refer to my study guide which is on Oct. 27th blog.  When studying page 46-47 are good pages, as well as, page 50 and 51.  Good Luck.  Remember, if you have questions write them down and come ask me!

Homework Math books for the class!!!

Good News!  We have enough math books that every two students can share a book!  That means that students can keep their math book at home and not carry it to school if they so choose.

Box Top Contest Ends Next Fri. Oct. 17

Today students are to work on the back page of a worksheet titled "decimal between a decimal".  They should have a detailed explanation of their thinking.

I have also posted the worksheet on my blog for those of you who were not here!

Homework, Passed Back Tests and absent students

Students are to finish the classwork that we did today on ordering decimals.  They are to explain with sound reasoning why they ordered the decimals in the way that they did.  They are to use some of the strategies that we shared in class today in their explanation.

I also passed back a test on Tuesday.  I asked all students to show their parents and then return the test back to school.  I need this as a body of evidence for report cards.  Thanks.

If you were absent you can download the activity we did in class.  It is titled "Fudge Factory Ordering".  Think about how you would use the bas 10 blocks to help you decide the size of these numbers.

Homework, pizza Sale Information, and Updated Class Roster

Homework tonight is to download the file titled "Fudge Factory #1" and complete it.  Be careful...Pay attention to the sizes of the pieces and what order I put them in when you draw your sketches!

Mrs. Dally has asked me to add an attachment regarding pizza sales.  It is titles "pizza sign up." Please take time to read it if you are interested in helping out.

Also, I have posted an update roster with corrections and additions.

Parents and Students have 5 minutes of homework. Also, read about class roster!

You and your child will play a game with a calculator.

Here is how you play.  You put a decimal into the calculator that is no bigger than thousandths.
For example,  point two one three (that is how you write it).  Now, one of you reads it... two hundred thirteen thousandths(that is how you read it). Keep going.

Another version:  Parents say out loud a decimal and students have to input it into the calculator correctly.

Also, I have put the class roster onto my website for you to access!

If you were out of town today.  We had a quiz.  Please do not help them with this.  It is titled How much is a Billion part 2. You can download it off of my website.

The homework for tonight is page 6:   Do numbers 14,21,23,26, and 37.  Also students are to do page 9: Do numbers 21 and 23.

If you are out of town please also do the attachment on my web site title  "How Much is A Billion".  Think about the place value chart when trying to explain it.

Parents:  I look forward to meeting all of you tomorrow night!  Be on the look out for a handout that was sent home today that allows you to buy gift cards.  A percentage of the money spent on these goes back to the school.
