Math Test This Wednesday
What You Need To Know:
The math test is on addition and subtraction of fractions.
-Know how to find common denominators so you can add fractions. You can use a rectangular model, fraction bars, or skip counting (least common multiple), to find common denominators.
-Know how to subtract fractions using a number line. Also, know how to subtract fractions using fraction bars to show regrouping. Making the two fractions into improper fractions would be another way.
Hints to study:
Study with a friend
Ask me for help if you have a question
Rework and review your homework problems.
Sample problems for extra practice:
John ate 1/3 of and ice cream and his friend ate 4/6. How much did they eat in all?
On Monday Fred worked on his homework for 1 1/3 hours. Tuesday he worked 2 1/6 hours. Jane worked on her homework for 1 5/6 hours. How much more time did Fred spend on his homework compared to Jane?
Sally had a rope that was 10 1/5 inches long. Fred had a rope that was 5 2/3 inches long. How much rope do they have all together? How much more rope does Sally have then Fred?
If they tied their rope together and the knot took up 1 1/8 inches, how long would their string be?
